Khalid Al Ali is a highly accomplished aviation professional with over 40 years of experience in the aviation sector, combining extensive operational, regulatory, and leadership expertise. He currently serves as Senior Director of the Air Transport Department at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), a role he has held since 2013.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Al Ali has led national and international initiatives in air transport regulation, aviation safety, policy development, and international air services agreements, representing the UAE in major global aviation forums.
Before joining GCAA, he served as Senior Vice President and Training Manager at Maximus Air Cargo, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company and registering Hercules aircraft under UAE civil operations. His career began in the UAE Air Force, where he progressed from Pilot to Squadron Commander, accumulating over 7,000 flight hours on multiple aircraft types.
Mr. Al Ali holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Beirut University and a Bachelor’s in Aviation Science from the Egyptian Air Force College. He also earned Diplomas in Judicial Expertise and Arbitration & International Relations from the Dubai Judicial Institute.
He is a licensed aviation expert witness before UAE courts, having successfully provided expert opinions in over 50 aviation cases, and is recognized for his strategic vision, deep regulatory insight, and commitment to advancing UAE’s aviation excellence.
